Cambridge Primary

Primary education plays a vital role in forming a child’s particular interest or passion as they start to develop a sense of independence. It is at this age that they begin to display a specific interest in certain materials and subjects. Compared to preschool, when they were learning the basic fundamentals, our primary education motivates them to take a more active role within their education.

Why study the Cambridge Primary Education programme at KING'S?

The aim of our Cambridge Primary programme is to help our children develop a range of knowledge and skills within our core subjects, providing a solid foundation upon which to build for later stages of education. The Cambridge system is a flexible system which allows us to employ various kinds of methodology of our own, to which we have added a number of childhood learning techniques across all levels of primary learning. All our teachers undergo our special training in order to be able to observe, teach, assess, and guide the primary students while also attending to their psychological needs and development at that early age.

Cambridge Primary Education, typically for learners aged 5 to 11 years, gives students an opportunity to develop learner skills and understanding in four core subjects: English, Mathematics, Science and the recently introduced, ICT. It enables teachers to assess children’s learning as they progress by preparing them for the Pre-IGCSE programme.

Cambridge Primary Progression Tests

These tests provide valid internal assessment of knowledge, skills and understanding in English, Mathematics and Science.

The tests:

Enable learning to be assessed each year, provide detailed information about the performance of each learner for years 3, 4, 5 & 6, enable teachers to give structured feedback to learners and parents, enable teachers to compare strengths and weaknesses of individuals and groups and come with clear guidance, standards and mark schemes.

Cambridge Primary Checkpoint

Cambridge Primary Checkpoint is designed to assess learners at the end of Cambridge Primary. The subjects available are English, English as a Second Language, Mathematics, and Science. It gives valuable feedback on learners’ strengths and weaknesses before they progress to the next stage of education and provides schools with an external international benchmark for learner performance. Each learner receives a statement of achievement from Cambridge. Teachers use the feedback from Cambridge Primary Checkpoint tests to make strategic decisions, drawing upon a pool of information and specialist reporting tools that are built into the tests. This will enable teachers to tailor individual learning programmes, monitor group and individual performance, and compare the performance of all learners taking tests in that session.
